Try again—read some people into paper,
Crease them at the corners with your
Dog-eared displays of victory.
But know that howling will always betray you,
Hoarse and ugly and echoed
By each foolish drunk on his mountainside.
You will freeze to death by your own arrogance,
But my coat of fire will keep me warm.
Any hare caught in your mouth will wish for worse—
You never fooled me, wolf.
I have bled darker before you,
and I will bleed darker still.
